Got a V8 T5 finally! And a little more on the 302 build…

Finally got a nice V8 T5 for the Mustang today! I believe the guy I bought it from said it was from a 95′ Mustang, but looking at it, it seems to shift fine and spin nicely! It even has a hurst shifter on it. All together I paid $280 for the transmission, the bell-housing which has apparently been modified to work with a 302 (the throw-out bearing fulcrum) to work with the Z-Bar and comes with the block plate, and even the cross-member! I didn’t have much time to look it over when I got it home, but next time I stop by the house I will try to inspect it more.

As for the 302 build…

I called up Hart Beat racing in Eustis and got a quote for boring and hot tanking, I need to call up this other place I had called before and get a quote with hot tanking since I forgot to ask when I was on the phone with them before. I am going to have the block bored .030 over and go from there. I think besides the basics like a better cam, new hi-flow water pump and hi-flow oil pump and new distributor, I am going to try to re-use what I can from the stock engine. I am going to keep the stock heads (as long as they are in good shape, I will be trying to rebuild them too) and intake manifold. I figure down the line I can upgrade here and upgrade there, not only to see an improvement in each piece, but to keep the initial cost down. At some point down the road I need to rebuild the rear-end again only this time make it a Posi instead of a peg leg!

Since my phone died before I got home, I’ll try to get some pics and upload them later…
